This programme emphasizes defence-specific business practices and aims to elevate the technological and business capabilities of the selected SMEs. It will facilitate the showcasing of their innovations and foster their integration into the broader defence community. Five Topics were proposed for this first open call:
1Hybrid Structures for Defence Platforms: For Multi-Material Design, Joining & Reversible Interfaces
2Innovative Joining Technologies & Automated Processes: For Multi-Material Defence Structures
3Structural Health Monitoring, Health and Usage Monitoring Systems & Embedded Sensor Architectures: For Continuous and Event-Based Structural Health Monitoring
4Non-Destructive Testing, Maintenance, Repair & Diagnostics: For Hybrid and Composite Defence Structures
5Digitalisation, Artificial Intelligence & Decision Support Tools: For Structural Assessment and Maintenance
Through this scheme, the recipient of MaJoR CASCADE FUNDING will be entitled to participate in an Entrepreneurship in European Defence course, and benefit from coaching, and mentoring services.
Response to the call in detail
The call was published on 28/01/2026, and it was closed on 25/03/2026 at 12:00 CET. The evaluation was held from 14/04/2026 to 04/06/2026.
The selection of the applicants has been completed on the 08/06/2026. All applicants have been informed about the evaluation results for their proposal for financial support on the 24/06/2026.
213 proposals were received. After an eligibility check and an independent evaluation by three evaluators, the 82 proposals that had reached the threshold of 25 points were considered for on-line interviews, after which the 30 best proposals were selected and funded for a total amount of 1 787 706.99€.
