Open Call 1 under the MaJoR project

We are looking for around 30 innovators (legal entities) to act as Technology/Solution Providers and address 5 topics answering our Innovation Challenges across the 3 domains. Successful applicants will receive up to €60,000 in funding and participate in a six-month support programme.

1. Hybrid Structures for Defence Platforms: Multi-Material Design, Joining & Reversible Interfaces

2. Innovative Joining Technologies & Processes for Multi-Material Defence Structures

3. SHM, HUMS & Embedded Sensor Architectures for Next-Generation Defence Platforms

4. NDT for Bonded Joints – Maintenance, Repair, Bonding Initial Design & Diagnostics for Hybrid and Composite Structures

5. Digitalisation, AI & Decision Support Tools for Structural Assessment and Defence Maintenance

About this open call

Selecting about 30 pioneering solutions to help tackle the Innovation Challenges detected in five specific topics. The MaJoR Open Call is now launched and offers a unique opportunity for your organisation to develop innovative Maintenance/ Repair solutions and receive up to €60,000 in funding

Why should you participate ?

  • Funding available: Up to €60,000 per recipient
  • Mentoring and Training: Tailored 6-month Mentoring/Coaching and Support Programme to understand and access the defence market
  • Collaboration/networking: Work with leading experts in the field of Maintenance, facilitate access to market and future development of your technologies
  • Innovation & access to infrastructure: Validate cutting-edge solutions that will shape the future of industry, via demonstration/ physical testing and simulation-base services on platforms provided by MaJoR stakeholders.
  • Application period: 28 January 2026, 10:00 – 25 March 2025, 12:00 (CET)
  • Eligible applicants*: SMEs, including startup, established in one of the eligible coutries (27 EU Member States, Norway or Ukraine), complying with Ownership Control Restrictions, ethics/ security/operational and financial capacity requirements. Absence of any conflict of interest with MaJoR consortium partners shall be demonstrated.

*Participation of entities other than SMEs can only be accepted where no SMEs are available to demonstrate the capacity or expertise needed for the project during its lifetime (i.e. no SME application eligible for the specific topic)

  • Model Sub Grant Agreement: Model that will be signed between the MaJoR Consortium and the selected Recipients before the Support Programme starts (Only for information). It will be complemented by annexes related to the applicable Model Grant Agreement (Annex 2), Financial terms (Annex 3a), FSTP recipient financial identification form (Annex 3b).
